Guatemala City, Guatemala

Guatemala City is the capital and largest city in Guatemala as well as the most populous city in all of Central America. It is the home of Guatemala’s social, political, economic, and cultural center. Government offices and services, banking and capital investments, as well as major universities, religious structures, and museums can all be found in Guatemala city.

Moreover, Guatemala City is home to one million people. One million souls who are in desperate need of the gospel. The sad, but true, reality is that the majority of these people will never hear the gospel. Although they have churches, most of these churches do not preach the truth of the gospel and the free gift of salvation, but rather, they teach and preach a works based salvation. However, in Ephesians 2:8-9, the Bible says “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”

This beautiful city is full of the richest of rich people, but also poverty you could never imagine. Crime has become inevitable as gang activity has surged in the last few decades. Many have had lives so difficult, and pain so deep, that they thought their only hope would be to join the gang, but we know that God loves and died for each and every one of them. We must forget our fears and judgments, and surrender to the call that the Lord has so clearly given us which is to go into all the world and to preach the gospel unto every creature.

Guatemala City is in desperate need of the gospel! Would you go? Would you pray? Pray that the Lord would raise up more laborers, that more people would surrender their lives, and that the people of Guatemala City would hear the truth of the gospel and be saved!?
